about Vanessa
Vanessa is a writer, photographer and founder, based in the South of Germany.

After starting a music blog whilst still being in school, Vanessa studied journalism and kept growing her music blog, "house in the sand" - which is now an online home for music lovers from all over the world.

Through running house in the sand she has managed to secure interviews with acts such as Jack Garratt, Olly Murs, Jamie Lawson, The Vaccines, Kodaline and many more.

Also working as a photographer with the focus on music photography, she has photographed acts such as Ed Sheeran, Dean Lewis, Gabrielle Aplin, Tom Odell, James Blunt and more - all for her self-founded publication, house in the sand.
Her photos portrait live music in a colourful and intimate way, allowing the viewer to see the performers up close without any distractions.
Her posed portraits incorporate architecture and contrasts in colours, while still keeping the focus on honestly portraying the object.

Vanessa's work on house in the sand has led to appearances on radio shows, as well as features on fellow blogs and has given her the chance to travel through Germany and the UK.

In April of 2018 she hosted the first live show with house in the sand,
allowing music fans to enjoy a free concert in Berlin with a lineup of three artists who are close to the website.

July of 2019 saw the release of house in the sand magazine, which was co-created by Vanessa. The music magazine holds 80 pages and features more than 25 pieces written by Vanessa and her co-creator Chris Stringer. Multiple photographs of hers accompany the pieces. Artists featured in the magazine include Kodaline, ROE, Alice Merton, Rhys Lewis and many more.

Besides running house in the sand and coordinating the team of 12 international contributers, she has worked as a tour manager, personal assistant, director of photography, and has shot and designed multiple EP artworks.
